Very Good to Fine. The first item is a nine-slot Fairbanks & Co. nickel rocker scale with slots to check the diameter, thickness, and weight of all U.S. gold and silver coin denominations from quarter to double eagle. Mounted on a black cast iron base that holds the small dollar counterweight that is often missing from these scales. PAT. FEB 22 82 is inscribed on top of the counterweight, with W.H. LANG/ BROOKLYN on the bottom. A short descriptive note on a circular tag, written by Eric P. Newman, indicates this was McNally's patent and was offered in lot 900F of Auction #75 (Smythe, 11/1988). The second item is another nine-slot Fairbanks nickel rocker scale on a decorated black cast iron base, with the same inscriptions, but missing the small gold dollar counterweight. Both detectors measure approximately 8.8 x 2.2 x 1.8 inches. Ex: Eric P.
