Over 150 examples are known of this Fancy Back 1890 Rosecrans/Nebeker signed Treasury $5. It bears the portrait of General George Henry Thomas. Although Thomas is not as well-known today as many of the other Civil War generals, his leadership during the Battle of Chickamauga earned him the nickname \"The Rock of Chickamauga,\" as his forces managed to hold their ground despite the fact the Confederates broke through both flanks.
