Amazingly, the Newman Collection contained two 50 cents notes from this extremely rare issuer, dated the same, but from different series. This style appears to be earlier and does not specify they were a \"Dry Goods Store\" as was engraved on the 50 cents plate of the note we sold in Newman Part VII, lot 18340, for $1,527.50. Printed on white paper. The top has a small steamboat vignette in an oval. Title and obligation are underneath. At the left end is small vignette of a sailor. The right end has a perpendicular FIFTY CENTS in a cartouche. Only some \"Small Repairs\" are noted on this bright note. Although not quite as sharp as the other 50 cents type we sold in October, very desirable. Ex: Eric P.
