Chillicothe, MO - Bank of the State of Missouri, in Chillicothe $10 July 1, 1858 MO-60 G98 SENC. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. Another possibly unique branch bank $10 with this beautiful design style (Haxby design type 10Ab). Chillicothe is the seat of Livingston County. The layout on this bottom sheet position note is the same as on the previous $10 branch bank types from the newer engraved Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. Phila. & NY plate without monogram. The engraved red tint plate COUNTERSIGNED & REGISTERED is above the vignette with signature line to the right. Townspeople watch the steamboat PIKE pass while a lone Native American man (from The Ruins of Jamestown vignette) crouches at left. George Rogers Clark and Daniel Boone are at left and right respectively, between \"X\" blocks. The title is across in one line with the engraved \"St. Louis\" above to the left. Plate D. No. 1181. Signed by A. S. Robinson and Jas. M. Hughes. Countersigned by the assistant commissioner Geo. Penn at upper right and so noted by \"ass't\" handwritten underneath. Grading notes \"Minor Damage in LR Corner,\" otherwise the note is 97% intact and attractive. Excellent printing clarity and pen accomplishment. There weren't any notes from the branch in Vacca. They are all SENC in Haxby from this and the Civil War series. This is the only example from the branch Eric acquired, has been part of the Newman Collection for decades, and may be the only issued note known from the branch. Ex: Eric P.
