Proof. PCGS About New 53.  This is an extremely rare India paper proof printed from American Bank Note Company plates. All genuine notes, issued or proof, are seldom encountered as attested by their lack in the comprehensive Glenn Martin Collection auctioned by Lyn Knight. At top center, The Tropics (engraved by W.W. Rice, used on several world notes and Hawaii), shows an allegorical female with a capped liberty pole gazing upon the bird that has alighted on her hand. Lush vegetation and a variety of tropical fruits are nearby. At lower left, a farmer prepares to cut stalks of corn. At lower right, a mechanic places an object into the jaws of a vise. A green guilloche with micro-lettering is across at bottom center and twin upper counters show an outlined \"1.\" Trimmed slightly into the lower left border, but perfectly straight.
