The Giza tomb of Rawer, of the mid-5th Dynasty (c. 2400 bc; Cairo, Egypt. Mus.), contained as many as 100 different statues. Most types of private statue were originally introduced as royal types, and most were single figures, although they were sometimes intended to form pairs, as in the case of the painted limestone statues of Rehotpe and Nofret, dating to the early 4th Dynasty (Cairo, Egypt. Mus., CG 3 and CG 4). Dyads and other group statues became widespread from the late 4th Dynasty. These mainly show the tomb owner and his wife, as well as their children or relatives. There are also 'pseudo-groups', showing the same person two or three times, such as the limestone double statue of Nimaatsed (Cairo, Egypt. Mus., CG 133). Different attitudes—standing, seated and kneeling—were sometimes combined, and the accompanying figures were smaller. There are no statues showing a non-royal figure with a deity.
