PCGS Very Fine 30.  The first series of Bank of Cape Fear odd denomination notes using red protectors only and not the full tint plate. The $6-$7-$8-$9 plate was engraved with the Bald, Cousland & Co., Philadelphia/Baldwin, Bald, & Cousland, New-York imprint. Fully signed and issued from the Greensboro branch. At the top center are several types of ships navigating their way through rough seas. At the left, \"VI\" counter in the center and \"6\" counters in the corners, all on wide, intricate lathe work. At the right are two different \"6\" counters. At the bottom center is a red protector SIX. This is an outstanding example, very bright and still fairly crisp. The margins are complete, but close on three sides. Worthy of setting a record for this branch design type, as it is head and shoulders over the vast majority of all odd denominations from this first red protector series.   Ex: Eric P.
