As the title might suggest, this was the third bank chartered in this Jefferson County community; it was also the last. While the first bank issued First Charters only and is yet unreported, the second and third institutions fared considerably better. Each prospered until the Great Depression felled them both, with this bank falling into receivership on January 3, 1933. Notes from here are not especially difficult to obtain, but early examples are considerably tougher, with the census showing only two $10 Brown Backs along with one $20 Brown Back. Two of the three pieces are quite low grade, with the other, an Extremely Fine serial number 1 $10 note, having sold for more than $6,000 in our September, 2008 Long Beach sale.    Ex: Eric P.
