Proof. PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ.  A second denomination from this exceptionally beautiful Wellstood, Hay & Whiting engraved and printed series. Printed on India paper and mounted on its original card stock. The color tint is similar to that seen on the $1 proof, with the entire note having a vermillion pattern tint of TWO in micro-lettering. Most of the frame is darker and there is dark oval die at the upper left. Seated Commerce and Agriculture are seemingly engaged in conversation in the top center vignette. Their hands rest on the ornate TWO protector and their knees extend beyond it, enhancing the three-dimensional appearance of the scene. At lower right are two iron miners, one swinging his pickaxe and the other taking a break to smoke his pipe. Another exquisite full color proof from the original $1-$2-$3-$5 sheet and the last available from the title. The proofs illustrated in Haxby are from the sheet in the Wisconsin Historical Society at Madison. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as written on the encapsulation.
