Proof. PCGS Choice New 63.  All banks from Janesville are very rare. This is a Choice New 63 proof on India paper. It was mounted on cardstock, and engraved and printed by Toppan, Carpenter & Co. using the beautiful vignettes from their palette. Two relaxed onlookers witness a patient horse being shod at top center. At lower left, a Continental drummer boy is practicing with his compatriots. \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as prepared by TC, as noted by grading. This an extremely rare proof. The $1 and $5 India paper denominations in the Krause collection sales, both had Bookbinder via D.C. Wismer pedigrees. In the Krause second sale in March 2010, the $1 proof realized $3,220 and the $5, with some paper thins, realized $2,300. This Choice proof is the only other example known in private hands and is the last proof available from the bank from the original Newman Collection $1-$2-$3-$5 sheet.  Ex: Eric P.
