The bank had a big circulation, and perhaps at night the note could have been passed. American Bank Note Company engraved notes like this were difficult to raise, especially because the color devices flanking the vignette had outlined counters. Under the arced title, standing History writes on a tablet as a small child holding a wreath sits at her feet. Small vignettes of a horse and eagle flank the corner \"5\" dies. The new counters are crude and the \"1\" outlines flanking the vignettes are plainly visible despite their erasure.
