Remainder. PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ.  A superb plate D example, once from the bottom of an original sheet, of a popular Obsolete type using portraits of four Union officers. Clockwise from bottom left, Union Colonel Schall, and Generals Slemmer, Hancock, and Hartranft appear on this late $1 remainder: all four had ties to Norristown. The bank opened in 1814 and became the Montgomery National Bank in 1865. A vignette of the bank building and a small oval portrait of George Washington complete the layout by the American Bank Note Company. The finest we have sold was the PMG Superb Gem Uncirculated 67PPQ in April 2008 for $782. A similar plate B example from the Newman sheet sold for $352.50 in Newman Internet Part 2. Ex: Eric P.
