CAC. Newman 105-FF, W-17590, R.7. 161.8 grains. Traditionally called Newman 105-FF, this variety is recorded in the 2008 Newman reference as 105-QQ. The reverse may be the same die as FF that appears with obverse 104, but there are enough differences to warrant a new reverse designation. This piece is the late die state with a severely bulged obverse die and a heavy crack through the right side of the meridian sun. Pewter-gray surfaces exhibit delicate champagne toning. There are apparently five or six known including this piece, the two examples plated in the Newman book, and two or three others. Ex: Eric P.
