Clear Water or Gads Hill, MO - Clear Water Lumber Company $1 Post Note Oct. 15, 1873. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. A $1 note from note this interesting series of company notes from Clear Water/Gads Hill. The $1 and $2 notes are in larger format than the 50 cents. Payable \"thirty days after date\"; the notes required a circular date stamp on the face, seen at left, to be valid. Printed uniface on white bond paper by R. P. Studley Co., St. Louis. A small portrait of Washington is at lower left and a \"1\" die is in the upper left corner. Titles and obligations are across with the white outlined ONE DOLLAR on black in the center. There are two engraved signatures. An 1873 date stamp is on the face, and three circular 1874 stamps are on the blank back. The blue stamp at the right on the face reads \"NOT issued for General Circulation...\" Noted with \"Minor Mounting Remnants on Back.\" Meaningless faults since the face is bright and well margined.
