St. Louis, Missouri, (T.) - Missouri Exchange Bank (of Wm. M. O'Hara & Co.) 12-1/2 Cents October 1, 1819 MO-35 G2. PCGS Very Good 10 Apparent. Though this note has some major faults, it is extremely rare. There are more proofs known from this Missouri Exchange Bank series than notes that circulated, and this note circulated. Printed by P. Maverick, Durand & Co. on banknote paper, likely similar to that used by the Land Agency Office and St. Louis & Illinois Team Boat Co. notes printed for St. Louis issuers by the imprint. Designed like the plate C proof in the Newman Collection in a simple style with a bowled title across the center and large \"12 ?\" at the top. Intricately engined end panels, using Cyrus Durand's early lathe machine patents, show perpendicular oval cartouches with \"12 1/2\" at the left and MISSOURI at the right. At the bottom are the engraved city and date with space across for the signature. Plate A. Signature faded. Noted with \"Edge Tears and Damage; Pieces Missing.\" This nets out to Fair or so. However, its great rarity makes it collectible and, before acquiring the proofs from Christian Blom in 1993, this was for decades the only change bill from the bank Eric owned. Ex: Eric P.
