Engraved by Danforth, Wright & Co., The whaling vignette here, with two exceptions, appears mostly on rare notes. This is the only available series using it that was signed and issued. The whaling scene is adapted from The Whale Fishery-Attacking a Right Whale and Cutting In, engraved after the painting by Ambrose Louis Garneray. Below the arced title, the lively whaling scene is taking place. The harpooner stands ready to strike the spouting animal. In the upper corners are \"5\" dies. Ornate frames at the lower corners show a sailboat at left and a sailor at the helm at right. Two red \"5\" protectors are at the bottom flanking the denomination. The noted \"Small Edge Tear at Right\" is hard to see. Ex: Eric P.
