A pleasing, mid-grade example of this $2 Silver Certificate that portrays General Winfield Scott Hancock. Most well-known for his heroism at Gettysburg, General Hancock died on February 9, 1886; these notes, featuring his portrait as engraved by Charles Schlecht, were released later that year. This series has the small red Treasury Seal. Only has some unobtrusive \"Small Edge Tears at top\" are noted by grading, and there is a small pencil mark on the face. The colors remain attractive on this moderately circulated example. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\n</p><p>From Newman VIII (Heritage Auctions, 11/2017), lot 29329, realized $576.
