PCGS Very Fine 30PPQ.  This is another extremely rare and fascinating Massachusetts Obsolete with a uniquely styled layout. The bank became a National Bank in 1865 and redeemed its Obsoletes.  Finely engraved by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co., it shows an impressive signature of John Hancock across the top, in the style he used to sign the Declaration of Independence. At the bottom right is a large eagle and shield vignette within a panoramic street view. At the left is large red protector numeral \"2,\" different from the shaded and outlined protector used on the plated note in Whitman. This is a stunning grade example that boasts crisp and bright paper. A scant few issued notes and proofs with the \"John Hancock\" engraved signature exist today from the bank, and most likely this is the finest.  Ex: Eric P.
