Plate II.   Undated, circa 1830s. Boston, Mass. A large format sheet on India paper only. This is an extremely rare sample sheet that we have not previously observed. It shows numerous NEBN vignettes used on period notes, both real-life and allegorical. At upper left (number 15) is \"Washington at Dorchester Heights.\" There are only two end panels, near the bottom, for $500 and $1000 notes. Several of the vignettes are from rare (or unattributed at this time) notes. The partial title in small print, \"Plate II,\" indicates this is part of series of sample sheets. We have observed the Plate I sheet in two private collections. This numerical usage has been observed on other banknote engraving firms' sheets. The margins are tight. A boldly printed sheet, but with some tears. One is scotch taped at the bottom and stains to the face across the bottom left vignette. Very Good, but this is a great rarity. Ex: Eric P.
