This is a rare railroad issuer and is rated as such in the comprehensive Connecticut Merchant Scrip, 1794-1876...published in Paper Money magazine in July/August, 2009 and scholarly authored by C. John Ferreri and Gary W. Potter. Printed in all red on yellowish paper. An early horse drawn trolley is between \"5\" counters. Text is in the bottom center. This was a bearer note when presented in even dollars and signed by the treasurer of the railroad. A fascinating series, and the Newman Collection is blessed with two denominations in this sale.
