Proof. PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ.  A very scarce bank from Wisconsin with proofs and some issued notes known. The bank also officially passed half notes, acting as 50 cents, to make change. This boldly printed India paper proof mounted on cardstock was engraved by Toppan, Carpenter & Co, New York & Philadelphia (the sheet used an unusual $1-$2-$2-$5 configuration). Beneath the arced title, a team of surveyors is at work on recently cleared land. An oval portrait of Columbus is at the lower left. At the lower right, Capital $50,000 is under the seal. This \"A\" position proof is from the early capitalization of the bank. The $1 proof in the Newman Part VI sale, graded PCGS Gem New 66PPQ, realized $3,995. The other $2 proof from the Newman Collection sheet realized $1,116.25 in October 2015. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as made. This is nearly perfect. Ex: Eric P.
