PCGS Very Fine 30. The bank was unknown until the 1990 American Bank Note Company archives auction at Christie's where two proof sheets appeared with a $1-$1-$3-$5 alignment. The notes were not even reported in period counterfeit detectors, and descriptions were unavailable to researchers like Haxby. However, this is an issued note, exceedingly rare, and more desirable than a proof. At top center, the Native American (left) and modern ways of life (right) are separated by a shield inscribed with a numeral \"1.\" In the distance at left is a mountain and lake vista; while at right, a large house is seen. The modern woman educates her children using a book and a globe, while the Native American woman embraces her child. A solemn woman is at lower left, and a mechanic at lower right. This is a bright and well-bodied rarity. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\nRealized $998.75. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18299.
