PCGS Extremely Fine 40.  This Galveston scrip, though from a different merchant, complements the C. O'Conner 25 cents note we sold in Newman Part VI. The notes share the same small size and design format. This note is printed in black and dated March 23, 1863, different from the blue ink January 1, 1863 notes (Medlar 17). Printed on the back of what appears to have been the corner of a blue inked share certificate. The denomination and issuer are across the center, with the city and engraved date above; it was signed on the wavy line at the bottom. The Bond collection had a 75 cents Medlar 17 note in Fine to Very Fine that realized $547. This is another candidate to be the finest note from the issuer and is an unlisted denomination for the date. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\nRealized $646.25.
