The town, nonexistent today (eventually absorbed in the 1880s by Thomasville), and issuer are unlisted in Rosene. Its style indicates the early Civil War period, but the date on the lower left and part of the bottom right signature are shaved off, perhaps as a cancellation of the note. The title across the center and a small steam ship vignette above it are within ornate end bordering. The obligation has a payable in \"Confederate Treasury Notes\" clause. Blank back with perpendicular endorsement: \"Will F. Saltman/Indianapolis/March 21 18[??].\" There are mentioned \"Edge Splits and Tears; Pieces Missing\" by grading. This might be unique, and Alabama Civil War scrip of this highest rarity has always been coveted. This was proven by our strong recent FUN 2016 auction results. Ex: Eric P.
