This counterfeit clearly lacks detail when compared to the genuine example in the Newman Collection. A contemporary imitation of the genuine with the false imprint of the American Bank Note Co., New-York. The layout and designs mimic those on the genuine note. At top center are various commercial goods on a wharf with a steamboat in the background. The corners show serial numbers in elaborate frames at the top and \"3\" dies at the bottom. No letter. With the false signature of Garnier as commissioner. No. 9757. The condition is exceptional for this type. It was not \"muddied\" up in advance as often done by counterfeiters to pass notes.
