This bank was originally chartered by the state as the Bank of the State of Missouri, with branches across the state, until its adoption of a national charter necessitated the bank divest its branches and operate in a single location. Its national banking venture lasted only from its inception in 1866 until the receiver arrived to close its doors forever in June of 1877. Only Original Series Nationals were issued, with Track & Price having recorded only a few appearances at public sale since 1990.
