Pictured are a couple who look on in anguish as their luggage looks to have just been toppled from a beast of burden (donkey or burro). Some pieces of luggage, suitcases, bags, and trunks, have come open and the contents of which is being scattered. The travelers are dressed in fashion of the time, the mid-late 1920s. Also seen are people of the country, possibly of the Middle East; most of whom are men. There is one  woman who wears a burka. One of the men seems to be fighting off a dog, who may have frightened the donkey or burro, causing the luggage mishap. The man carries a whip. The native people appear to be equally dismayed with the action. Caption / copy reads: \"The May Good-looking Glass, Travel Aid, will prove an invaluable travel guide at home or abroad. Send a stamped, self-addressed envelope for this leaflet ...\" The copy includes the address of Woman's Home Companion, which tells that this ad is from that periodical."},{"label":"Image View Type","value":"Advertisement Illustration; Periodical Illustration"},{"label":"Style Period","value":["Commercial Modernism"]},{"label":"Cultural Context","value":"Popular American Culture"},{"label":"Link to Finding Aid Record","value":"https://aspace.wustl.edu/repositories/3/archival_objects/280076"},{"label":"Medium","value":["2 color prints (prints) [AAT]"]},{"label":"Type","value":["Still Image"]},{"label":"Genre Form","value":["Graphic Design and Illustration","Tear sheets [AAT]"]},{"label":"Collection ID","value":["DIRA-00019"]},{"label":"Collecting Area","value":["Dowd Illustration Research Archive"]},{"label":"Publish Country","value":["United States [LCNAF]"]},{"label":"Date Notes","value":"ca. 1927"},{"label":"Date Created","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1927"},{"label":"Creator","value":["Chapman, Frederick T."]},{"label":"Physical Object Creator Name","value":["Woman's Home Companion [Local]"]},{"label":"Collection Name","value":["Walt Reed Illustration Archive Tear Sheet Collection","Dowd Illustration Research Archive","Walt Reed Illustration Archive"]},{"label":"Subject (Topical)","value":["Luggage [LCSH]","Donkeys [LCSH]","Travelers [LCSH]","Dogs [LCSH]","Advertising [LCSH]"]},{"label":"Metadata Status","value":"Not Reviewed by Metadata Services Staff"},{"label":"Copyright Statement","value":"<a href=\"https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-EDU/1.0/\"> This Rights Statement can be used only for copyrighted Items for which the organization making the Item available is the rights-holder or has been explicitly authorized by the rights-holder(s) to allow third parties to use their Work(s) for educational purposes without first obtaining permission.</a>"},{"label":"Keywords","value":["Trunks (Luggage)","Burqas (Islamic clothing)","Whips","Commercial art","Men & women","World travel","Advertising","Travel","Travelers","Donkeys","Luggage","Trunks"]},{"label":"Link to Catalog Record","value":"http://archon.wustl.edu/index.php?p=collections/controlcard&id=776&q=walt+reed"},{"label":"Copyright Status","value":["In Copyright - Educational Use Permitted"]},{"label":"Visibility","value":"Full access (No downloads/view only)"},{"label":"Download Restrictions","value":["Full Asset PDF","Metadata","Original item(s)","Transcript"]},{"label":"Creator","value":["Chapman, Frederick T."]}],"description":"Untitled","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/5dc62c9e-bd95-477b-963d-ce0704b6c697/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Untitled","height":4884,"width":3853,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/5dc62c9e-bd95-477b-963d-ce0704b6c697/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":null,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/5dc62c9e-bd95-477b-963d-ce0704b6c697","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"},"height":4884,"width":3853},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/5dc62c9e-bd95-477b-963d-ce0704b6c697/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/5dc62c9e-bd95-477b-963d-ce0704b6c697/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/5dc62c9e-bd95-477b-963d-ce0704b6c697/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/washu/iiif/logo"}
