The large illustration is of a young man, appearing to steal the trousers from a scarecrow, apparently for his own use. He is only partially dressed. His shoes are hidden by grass, but his socks and sock garters can be seen. He's wearing striped boxer underwear, a white shirt with a striped tie, and a dark coat/jacket. His shirt-tails hang down past the hem of the coat. His hair is rather wind-blown. He's looking furtively to his left, not wanting to be seen. The caption reads; 'When dusk was falling, Freddie managed to sneak a pair of trousers from a scarecrow.' The smaller inset illustration is a profile portrait of a man's head, hair neatly in place, shirt collar and tie showing, identified as Freddie Widgeon, presumably the same Freddie in the larger illustration. This is a P. G. Wodehouse story published in Cosmopolitan Magazine in May, 1939. Found in a P. G. Wodehouse site."},{"label":"Medium","value":["color prints (prints) [AAT]"]},{"label":"Date Created","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1939"},{"label":"Image View Type","value":"Periodical Illustration"},{"label":"Image View Description","value":"p.52; May"},{"label":"Title","value":"Trouble Down at Tudsleigh"},{"label":"Copyright Status","value":["In Copyright - Educational Use Permitted"]},{"label":"Collection Name","value":["Walt Reed Illustration Archive Tear Sheet Collection","Dowd Illustration Research Archive","Walt Reed Illustration Archive"]},{"label":"Link to Finding Aid Record","value":"https://aspace.library.washu.edu/repositories/3/archival_objects/280076"},{"label":"Publish Country","value":["United States [LCNAF]"]},{"label":"Collection ID","value":["DIRA-00019"]},{"label":"Collecting Area","value":["Dowd Illustration Research Archive"]},{"label":"Genre Form","value":["Graphic Design and Illustration"]},{"label":"Style Period","value":["Commercial Modernism"]},{"label":"Cultural Context","value":"Popular American Culture"},{"label":"Copyright Statement","value":"<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC-EDU/1.0/\">This Item is protected by copyright and/or related rights.
