D. Haley-Commission Scrip $1 Undated (1870s) Wait-21. PCGS Very Fine 30. This Tiffany Commission scrip note served as advertising for E.D. Haley's dry goods and carpets. It is the George Wait Maine reference book plate note, illustrated face and back, on page 139. At the center, a detailed wharf scene shows commercial goods being transported. The stern of the ship at right shows the name NYMPH. At left, crowned America in classical garb holds the billowing stars and stripes with her right hand, and holds her left above her eyes as she peers into the distance. The charming little girl at lower right holds firmly onto a book. An upside-down corner penciled notation (old pedigree?) is at lower left on the back. There are few Commission scrip notes from Maine and this is a rare dollar-denominated example. Ex: Eric P.
