PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. This is a rare Toppan, Carpenter & Co. issued note without a tint. Agriculture, reclining against a bale, holds up some stalks of wheat. In the background, men load hay onto a wagon as a train passes in the far distance. A John Marshall portrait in an oval frame is in the lower left. At top right, a young woman holding a sheaf of wheat turns her head rearward, as if someone has spoken to her. Since her hat is on her back, suspended from its ribbons, she needs to use her hand to shield her eyes from the sun. Signed and an early issue date, without a tint. Known as proofs and as cancelled notes like this. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and with \"Minor Edge Damage at Bottom Left.\" This is another rare and underrated type from the bank. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society\n\nRealized $470.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18483.
