This and the following low-numbered notes originated in a small group Eric P. Newman acquired decades ago. A serial number 2 note, plate A, of this interesting New York City-payable type with historic figures from the period. There are three serial number 2 notes in the sale from the second sheet signed. Engraved and printed by Draper, Toppan, Carpenter, Longacre & Co. Phila. & N.Y. A commercial allegory with Moneta is at top center; corner portraits show Benton, Linn, Jackson, and Van Buren clockwise from upper left with eagles between at the ends. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled,\" and with a pen cancel on the face. There are several strong auction records for this type at auction over the years, including some over $1,000. Ex: Eric P.
