A fascinating English-language document, and much larger in size than the 1805-dated compact Bon scrip in the following lot. Hand accomplished in English by Amos Duncan and due to Price & Wherry with interest (not specified). Laid paper, 16.2 cm by 10.0 cm. Countersigned by Duncan. Docketed by Wherry. An important artifact directly tied to early American fur trading, and a very rare piece of peltry-payable scrip. Amos Duncan settled in 1797 on the Meramec River and Williams Creek, later relocating to Pearl River in the Mississippi Territory. Price & Wherry appears to be a general store in St. Louis County. Noted as Apparent with only some small \"Edge Splits.\" A bold document, again with great character.
