Pennsylvania October 1, 1755 1 Shilling Fr. PA-63. PCGS Extremely Fine 40 Apparent. A choice example from a series printed by B. Franklin and D. Hall, but uniface and without imprint. The higher denominations for the issue continued the nature print backs initiated in 1739 and have imprints. Very rare in all grades, but this is in extraordinary grade for such a low denomination as it would have been heavily needed to make small change. It has the standard face style adopted in 1739 with border cuts enclosing the Penn family arms and text. Plate A. There are three beautifully penned signatures of Joseph Saunders, Daniel Williams, and Samuel Burge. A fresh note boasting excellent paper body. Grading notes: \"Repaired Split at Left; Small Edge Split at Right.\" Sharply printed to the high standards of Franklin and Hall and with complete margins. The Newman Collection plate B example graded Very Fine 25 Apparent sold in Newman Part VI in April 2015 for $1,527.50. This much superior note is nearly as sharp as the Boyd note sold in May 2004.
