Crane Post Master, \"at the Post Office, St, Louis\" 25 Cents/Quart de Piastre Undated (Ca. 1817). PCGS Very Good 8 Apparent. This bi-lingual denominated note is from a rare and early territorial change bill series that preceded Maverick, Durand & Co. engraved notes for the postmaster. Locally printed it appears, without imprint on frail paper. All denominations from the series share a common style. Accordion-style cartouches are at both ends, with POST OFFICE EXCHANGE at left and LAND AGENCY OFFICE at right. Obligations and denomination are across, with the French equivalent neatly in italics at top center. The top and bottom show a decorative border. This type and series was not in the 1980 Vacca sale, nor was it among John J. Ford's postmaster notes in the Ford X sale in May 2005. Noted with \"Tape Repaired Tears and Damage\" by grading. The glassine tape has not harmed the note. A historic issue and the first example of the denomination we have cataloged. Ex: Eric P.
