Proof. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.  A Superb Gem India paper proof from this beautifully engraved Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co., Phila. & New-York series. This is the only example in private hands to our knowledge. At the bottom center is Eliot Preaching to the Indians. This vignette was originally engraved for New England notes, but the Native American motif would have appealed to frontier bankers and was used by a few Wisconsin banks. John Eliot preaches as he stands at the center of an attentive Indian group. At lower left, an oval portrait of a finely coiffed young woman; at lower right, a woman carrying sheaves of wheat. The denomination was not in the Krause Collection and this is appears to be the only example known in private hands. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" as made.
