A fierce looking eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch flies above the bridge in the top center vignette. Tollbooths and gatekeepers are at either end to allow passengers entry. Shimmering moir? patterns provide the background for the end panels with TEN perpendicular at the left. The type is reversed out for a white on black effect while at right, the denomination is black on white and slanted. Proofs from the series are rare, with the Alan Dorris Collection having only two proof denominations, a $5 and a $20. They both realized over $1,000 in the January 2015 FUN auction. The handling is faint and the printing clarity exceptional. This is one of the most striking engravings from the 1815-1822 imprints. Ex: Eric P.
