However, this acted as a bank and the note was payable to \"bearer.\" Engraved by Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. with exquisite style. At the top center flanked by dies are two seated females on shore representing Hope. One is holding a harp (with full strings, although tradition mentions a lyre with one string) and the anchor is at their feet. Washington seated, by Canova, is in the left end oval.
