This India paper proof engraved by the American Bank Note Company is in marvelous condition, Gem New 66PPQ, and is the Hewitt plate note. At the center a blacksmith shoes a horse, while another smithy looks on; a man, perhaps the owner, is seated. The end panels show intricately engraved lathe work. The pair of \"2\" numeral counters flanking the center appear to be crafted from former dies of the Danforth, Wright & Co., predecessors of the merged ABN firm. This is Hole Punch Cancelled as made.
