This is a fascinating Reconstruction era scrip note and United States Fractional Currency mimic note with a left side vignette of a fireman, adapted from a period photo by E.V. Seuter. This lithographer's proof was printed on thick paper by Van Beek, Barnard & Tinsley, St. Louis. The man (attributed as a fireman) whose hat says FOREMAN, and whose uniform indicates he is number 3, holds the nozzle of a long hose. Title and obligation are at the right. Green \"25\" protector. Green back with obligation in cartouche and green \"25.\" The Fractional Currency mimic style is superb. Some handling folds only, otherwise bright and attractive. Ex: Eric P.
