The Newman proofs from this bank formed an impressive quartet, with the two denominations in this Newman Part VII sale being the last available. An India paper proof mounted on original card, engraved and printed by Toppan, Carpenter & Co, New York & Philadelphia. On this exceptional layout, the title curves across the top center from the veiled woman's portrait in the upper left corner to the \"1\" die at upper right.  A wide scene of a Native American hunter spearing a bison is at lower right. Intricate dies in opposite corners provide the perfect balance. The Krause collection had only one bond paper Specimen from the bank. To the best of our knowledge, this proof and the following comprise the only examples remaining in private hands. The $2 and $3 proofs from this bank each had iconic historical vignettes and realized $5,405 (PCGS Superb Gem New 67PPQ) and $5,170 (PCGS Very Choice New 64) in Newman Part VI. Noted as \"Hole Punch Cancelled\" and \"Mounted on Cardstock\" as made. A dynamic vignette and superb layout. To our knowledge, this is the only example available to collectors. Ex: Eric P.
