Paris, MO - Farmers Bank of Missouri, at Paris $5 July 10, 1858 MO-15 G30a SENC. PCGS Very Good 10. Eric was very fortunate to obtain two issued Paris branch notes from this series in the 1939 Wismer acquisition. Though the note saw much circulation, many details are sharp, and the branch location is plainly visible. This issued $5 was engraved by Bald, Cousland & Co. Philada. & New York using light orange lace tint with a deeper hue outlining the large white FIVE protector. The top corners show \"5\" dies. In the wide vignette cupped into the arced title, Agriculture and a farm scene are at left, and Home Industry and a factory building are at right. In oval frames at the bottom are a boy at left and Washington at right. Countersigned by C. [laiborne] F.[ox] Jackson, the state's first banking commissioner. Plate D. No. 17 A low serial number note and well-penned signature of Jackson, later a Governor, Secessionist, and Confederate general. Another very interesting issued branch note, and extremely rare. Ex: D.
