Received B.A. from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, in 1983.\n</p><p></p><p>At age 14 he won an award for singing a numismatic song and became known as the “Musical Coin Dealer.” In 1978 he was honored by the ANA as \"Outstanding Young Numismatist.\" In 1984 he was \"Adult Advisor of the Year.\"\n</p><p></p><p>Employed as a professional numismatist with the Musical Coin Company 1976 to 1980 and with Scott Travers Rare Coin Galleries, Inc. after 1981. He worked as a grader for NGC 1987 to 1990.\n</p><p></p><p>Travers has been a contributing editor to COINage Magazine since 1984. He has written several books. The Coin Collector's Survival Manual was published in 1984. It won the NLG Award as \"Book of the Year.\" Rare Coin Investment Strategy was published in 1986. It was another NLG \"Book of the Year.\" Investor's Guide to Coin Trading was published in 1990. It was the NLG \"Best Investment Book of the Year.\" One Minute Coin Expert was published in 1991. For 1991 the NLG appointed Travers as awards coordinator. </p><p></p><p>Author of the Insider’s Guide to U.S. Coin Values (1993); How to Make Money in Coins Right Now (1996). In won “Book of the Year.” Author of Scott Travers’ Top 100 Coins over $100. (1998)\n</p><p></p><p>Governor of the ANA 1995 to 1997; Vice President 1997 to 1999.\n</p><p></p><p>Travers has established a reputation as a consumer advocate. He served on the U.S. Congressional Advisory Board after 1982. He has been interviewed on several local, regional and national radio and television programs. His books have been reviewed or quoted in national business newspapers. </p><p></p><p style=\"margin: 0 0 0.0001pt; font-size: 10pt; font-family: \"Times New Roman\", serif; text-align: justify; line-height: 11pt\">He received the NLG “Clemy” Award in 2002. Named a Numismatic Ambassador in 2010.
