Clockwise from bottom left, Union Colonel Schall, and Generals Slemmer, Hancock, and Hartranft appear on this late $1 remainder: all four had ties to Norristown. The bank opened in 1814 and became the Montgomery National Bank in 1865. A vignette of the bank building and a small oval portrait of George Washington complete the layout by the American Bank Note Company.
