Served in the U.S. Army 1946 to 1948, member of the U.S. Army swimming team. Married Carol Girard September 9, 1950. They had seven children. Graduate with B.A. from Lafayette College in 1952. Employed with Union Securities in NYC 1952 to 1957. Vice President for Weeden & Company 1957 to 1964. Senior partner with Salomon Brothers 1964 to 1972.\n</p><p></p><p>Appointed Deputy Secretary of the Treasury January 22, 1973. Appointed Secretary of the Treasury and served May 8, 1974 to January 20, 1977. His signature appears on Federal Reserve Notes, series of 1974 and 1976.\n</p><p></p><p>He died in Santa Barbara, Caifornia.</p><p></p><p>Simon appears on the Assay Commission Medal for 1976 (AC-120). The oval medal 60 mm x 76 mm was by Frank Gasparro. The 1976 assay was the last official meeting of the Assay Commission.\n\tSimon appears on a mint medal (USM 226) as one of the series for Secretaries of the Treasury.
