UG23. PCGS Very Fine 35.   A second $5 Union Military Bond; the engraved \"1865\" date is on the face, and the enactment date of Feb. 20, 1865, is on the back. The face style is as on the previous Cr. UG13 with hunters setting up camp and the portrait of Edward Bates. The green security back has FIVE/5 at center with several dies and is endorsed vertically at the center. Plate D. No. 4880. At a minimum, the type is very rare. It did not appear in Vacca and is not illustrated in Shull-Criswell. The condition is excellent with problem-free, modest wear.
