PCGS Very Fine 35.  Lovejoy's Hotel issued Civil War era scrip notes (the only example seen by us was in the Gordon Harris Collection), and initially this appears to be a handwritten denomination advertising \"Good For\" type. However, it is also redeemable in \"Bank Bills\" and has a high denomination of $100. Finely engraved with the imprint of Latham at the lower left. This well-balanced scrip shows a building, presumably the hotel, under the arced title. The gray frame, end panels, counters and protector enhance the appearance. The denomination and counters are penned. The left end shows LOVEJOY's in a rectangle between calligraphic designs. The right end shows the perpendicular, curving title. Wide margined and impressive.
