A very scarce large example from Caldwell County in northern Missouri. This note from the Newman Collection is only the second $20 Plain Back to be reported, and with the other known piece graded only Fine, easily the superior note. At left face is Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch. The back features Union and Civilization (information courtesy of Arthur Friedberg). This pretty $20 possesses bright paper, bold ink colors, and original embossing. This is the first of its title and type we have cataloged.
