PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent.  Issued Nantucket notes are rarely offered. They are usually closely held in collections for lengthy periods. It is amazing to see three notes from this rare title in one auction and all are fascinating individually, and collectively as a superb trio. This New England Bank Note Co./Patent Stereotype Steel Plate engraved issued note merits much plate detail study. Amplifying the craftsmanship of the Perkins patents, a beautifully configured garland chain links encloses the title, obligations and location. The top center vignette shows a cherub as Plenty at left and child Mercury at right as Commerce. The two are seated among commercial goods at the shore. A portrait of George Washington is at far left center, and Lafayette at far right. Both are in oval frames. Outside the oval are floral details and, in the upper corners, spread-winged eagles. This note is one of the most intricate notes we have cataloged from the combined imprint. Noted only with a \"Small Edge Tear at Left,\" and it projects boldly. In the past few years, some engraved vignette Nantucket Obsolete notes easily eclipsed $5,000 and some approached five figures. This is a coveted Massachusetts location and very rare note.
