These large Irish pennies were last minted in 1968 and circulated very little, which might explain the unusual amount of mint luster still present. The seller, who is a major coin dealer, has seen many examples in lots of coins that he's bought. He believes this one might be a trial strike that didn't circulate because of the poor application of UVF.
