PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent.  Another unconfirmed Rhode Island note and bank from the Newman Collection. It is a beautifully styled American Bank Note Company engraved and printed masterpiece. The bank is all SENC in Haxby and only a $1 note is plated in the Whitman Encyclopedia. That is the only note from the bank we are aware of. This Providence location was open for six years before becoming a National Bank and redeeming their circulation. The layout is busy and tactically efficient to prevent note raising. A portrait of a young woman with long hair in ringlets is left of center, next to the bank title. The vignette at top left shows a Revolutionary war scene. Armed with a rifle, the Continental looks down on British soldiers below. Behind him, his wife hastily loads another gun. At lower right, a farmer guides a plow while his son leads one of the horses. A red protector \"2\" is at the bottom, left of center. Noted with \"Small Edge and Internal Splits and Tears.\" Strong paper integrity and vibrancy. A distinguished Rhode Island Obsolete rarity.
